Shetland Nature Festival - starts tomorrow!

FAMILY ART SESSION

When & Where: 1400 - 1630, Friday 12th July | Learning Room, Shetland Museum and Archives, Lerwick
Price: £5.00 per family | Materials Included

This week is Shetland Nature Festival, an exciting week of events, talks and workshops celebrating Shetland’s natural heritage in locations across the islands. On Friday 12th July, the focus of the day will be the islands’ diverse flora, and Shetland Museum and Archives will be celebrating one of Shetland’s greatest naturalists, Walter Scott. On display will be examples from his rich botanical collection, and a talk about Walter Scott will further celebrate his huge contribution to botany in Shetland.

On Friday 12th, I’ll also be holding a Family Art Session at the museum. This drop in event is suitable for all the family and all abilities, and includes materials. We’ll be looking at various artists and their techniques, and draw / paint / print / collage our own artworks, observing the colours shapes and forms of many of Shetland’s native species. Join us for a fun afternoon inspired by nature!

*Please note! The pressed flora in the above image was found in the pages of charity shop books. Beautiful finds though they are, wild flowers are best appreciated in the wild - please do not collect your own specimens!
