Studio open for Shetland Wool Week!

Speldiburn volunteers have put together an exhibition of heritage and heirloom knitwear, kindly lent by islanders.

One of my drawings features as part of this - a drawing of a local lady’s gloves with two colour ways, made by her great aunt in the 1980s. It was so lovely studying the interesting differences between them, and how colour combinations really effect the pattern, and I hope to continue drawing interesting examples of Fair Isle like this.

This drawing of chained warp was made in 2017, following time spent with a family member who weaves.

An archival quality giclée open edition print of the drawing, mounted to fit an A3 frame, is available.

The studio is open for Shetland Wool Week!
As part of Wool Week at Speldiburn Cafe, it’s lovely to be welcoming visitors. Come along and say hello, and see works in progress as well as textile-related drawings, cards and prints.
Open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am - 3pm each day. See you soon!

This year I was delighted to be commissioned to illustrate a feature in the Shetland Wool Week Annual about historic breeds of Shetland livestock and crops, and the original drawings are on display.

A Shetland duck, part of the Shetland Wool Week Annual 2025 commission.

Earlier this year I was asked to make illustrations of beautiful designs by Fair Isle with Marie and Terri Laura for items as part of their Fair Isle knitting holiday week, which happened in September. It was such a lovely experience drawing Terri's Shetland Yoke Jumper and Marie's Fair Isle Fisherman's Kep, and this week you can see the original drawings on display outside my studio.

Cards, postcards and prints for sale outside my studio.

'Basket o' Flooers' is a cyanotype edition which brings together lace, my photographs, and found items, and explores memory and finding connections and patterns in your surroundings. This is a limited edition cyanotype of 25, size 21x21cm. A6 sized lace print cards are also available.
